First Day of Preschool

Today was Roman's first day of Preschool.

It started out with some rough negotiations to get him out of bed at 7:30. This boy normally sleeps until 10! He cried during his bath. What a night owl!

I was worried he was going to be upset when we left but he did just fine. When we rounded the corner to his school he got so excited and start yelling "There is my school!".

Lets hope this year continues to go great!

A few things I have learned this week..

1. Even kids this amazingly darling are just plain stickers. Potty training is not working out for us. He knows how to go.. he knows where to go.. he just can't plain be bothered. He has reeeally important things to do, ok. He is busy. He has to make messes. Today he did request to wear big boy unders all day though. There is something remotely wrong about when your child can bring you a clean pull up and tell you in clear English to change him. Not ok on so many levels.

2.. Even 2 weeks after nose surgery- it hurts like HELL when your above mentioned son bumps your recovering nose.

3. What exactly the surgeon did to my nose. See below. The nose surgery was a piece of cake. The tonsils are wretched. Still sore. BLAH!

4. I positively loved Posh's new fall collection. I heart this dress. I need to lose 100lbs so I can think about losing another 50lbs so that I can wear this dress.

5. Jon Hamm. Is the man. Of my dreams. Oh my, oh my.

6. Dreyer's Real Fruit Lime Popsicles are out of this world.

7. Jon Hamm needs to be my lover. End of conversation.

7. I can't stop reading the Go Fug Yourself website. Its downright amazing.

My Top Ten Favorite New TV Shows Fall 2009

10. Community: Does anyone else watch "The Soup" on E!? I love Joel McHale.. he can give a good zinger right at the perfecto moment.. this is quite a funny little show.

9. Vampire Diaries: Ok, I must admit that I was pretty cynical about this show... like they were being parasites (nice pun) off of Twilight.. but I had to watch.. and I like it.. sort of.. I like the story and the super sexy Vamps.. but it has a little to much teen sexuality in it.. the whole "everyone is doing it.. its just normal.. attitude". It also SCARES the SHIT out of me! But alas.. I am a wimp.

8. The Beautiful Life: I liked it.. but America did not. So it got canceled 2 shows in, OUCH!

7. The Good Wife: I love Julianna Margulies, she does a great job playing the scorned political wife who must go back to work as a Junior Associate at a law firm.. great characters, great story lines. I loved it in the first 5 minutes.

6. Melrose Place: I was really reluctant to watch this.. I am not a huge fan of remakes. I feel like the new 90210 is no where near the original. I was afraid CW was just going to bomb this show. This is not the case. Kate Cassidy (the daughter of 70's pop tart Davis Cassidy), plays Ella, the witch PR girl and this girl makes the show for me. She is fierce and does not miss a beat. I am not so sure about Ashley Simpson-Wentz, her character has been pretty boring in the first 2 episodes but I am hoping we get to see a little more out of her.

5. Drop Dead Diva: Darling show, I really just initially recorded because I had to see the story of a skinny girl shoved into a plus sized body but a few episodes in I stopped being cynical and started to be a fan!

4. Eastwick: I really love the actress Lindsay Price.. so I gave this show a try and really liked it. The colors and set decor are whimsical and just make me feel all warm and happy and fun on the inside. :) I think that Rebecca Romijn sort of looks like a trani in this though.. not going to lie..

3. Cougartown: Oh my good hell Courtney Cox is hilarious in this show.. She plays a 40 yr old back on the scene raising a high school aged kid.. She has perfect timing and causes me to laugh very hard.. all by myself.. in my room.. hugging my tivo remote... pure on FUNNY goodness. Do not watch with your little ones though.. for this is a Mama show.. Give it a TRY!

2. MERCY: Have mercy on me this show is GOOD! I am not a big hospital show kind of gal. This is good. Plain Good. Real GOOD. Love Michelle Trachtenberg's character as newbie nurse Chloe and her heart of Gold. The lead actress is great as well. This show brings both laughter and drama in one little gold nugget of an hour. A++

1. PROJECT RUNWAY! Yes I know this is not "NEW", but my favorite show changed channels to Lifetime... so it sort of counts, right? I was a little worried about the whole Bravo to Lifetime change but thank the goodness of the producers heart.. its my same great show..

Southwestern Steak Linguine

(Please do not judge my photography skills from the above picture. Indoor lighting is yucky!)

Threw this meal together tonight and it was amazing. A must share.

3 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
3 Tablespoons Ancho Chili Powder
1 Clove Garlic, chopped
1 Can Diced Tomatoes, drained
2 Teaspoons Sea Salt
1 Can Black Beans, drained
1 Cup Salsa
3 6oz Sirloin Steaks, grilled, sliced very thin
1 cup fresh corn (freezer corn will work as well)
3/4 lb of linguine, cooked and drained

In large skillet, heat oil and add chili powder and garlic, saute for 1 minute.
Add canned tomatoes and sea salt and saute on high for 3 minutes until tomatoes start to liquefy and bubble. Turn heat to medium-high and add beans, salsa and steak. Saute together for 2 minutes. Add corn and saute additional 1 minute. Remove from heat and toss in linguine.
This recipe served 6 adults.

10 things we have done this summer.

1. We have a family tradition of cleaning, visiting and decorating the graves of our loved ones on Memorial day. We enjoyed having time with our family to do this. Memorial Day also happened to be Brittan's birthday so we release.

Below is the vinyl lettering I had made to put Roman's name on Brit's grave. Some day we will engrave his name on it. But it's quite expensive and I am hoping we are not done having kids.

Lot's of people love Baby Brit and bring something special for him each year. Thanks to all those that do that! :)

We let balloons go in his honor and its such a sweet moment to watch a balloon fly to heaven.

Roman does not agree. He was very upset when his balloon went.

I mean reallllllllly upset..

He chased them crying. It was very sad.

I was already bawling and it just made me cry a little more!

Then we sent Brit his birthday balloon..

Four Generations.

2. We went and ate dinner at Tucano's for my little sisters birthday. It's my favorite Brazillian BBQ spot. Delish. Quite the crowd, as usual.

3. We went to Lagoon for Lagoon Stake Day. It rained but the lines were zilch so it was fun when the rain stopped. Roman loved Lagoon and still says "my ride, my ride, I play Mama, please." whenever we pass Lagoon. A few hightlights below..

4. We went to Lagoon again the next day with friends. Roman and his girlfriend Ardy B. Shaffer. It's hard to see in this picture but Roman has his arm around her. They were so darling all day. She wouldn't ride a ride unless she could ride with her Rony.

5. My grandpa put together a little baby bunny petting zoo at his house for Roman. He loved them dearly and they feared him for their lives.

10. I have been VERY busy with RomaBee. I am booking in August now for family pics. Been a wild and crazy summer for my business and its growing leaps and bound. My Sweet Recessionista Shopping..

Went on my first shopping trip using the advice from a couponing class held by my friends cousin, her blog is "A Sweet Sale" and she uses the website Grocery Smarts. My friend Kristy Egan started a few weeks ago and now that I am back in town I have been itching to get started. Here are the stats on my first trip:

Items Purchased: 3 Gallons of Winder Farm Milk, 7 boxes of name brand cereal, 2 boxes of Wheat Thins, 2 bottles of fancy Dawn detergent, 1 box of foil and 2 Colgate Whitening toothpaste.

Cost: $14.58

Savings: $49.62

The cost of the website she uses and her advice is zero.

She holds classes if anyone is interested I would be happy to host another one here at my house. Its truly amazing if you take a little time, (the class teaches you how to get organized) the amount of money that can be saved on quality products! Hope everyone starts doing it to!

My local Krispy Kreme is no longer providing a free donut when the hot sign is on. I seen the sign on today while heading to Hobby Lobby, and my sister not usually living with me, has not really experienced the pleasure of the hot sign. It's lure is very enticing to a newbie. So in we go, and we were slammed in the face with a sign that says something about how they would love to give us a free hot donut as long as we purchase something. Sad. Now the economy is really hitting home. Good thing I am a total recessionista!

P.S. I do know that I am supposed to be on a diet. But when have I ever had self control.

Top Ten Things That Have Been Happening in the Last Week in the DC Metro Area Potter Style:

10. Chuck got his big toe lanced and drained. I mean who get's an ingrown toenail on vaca?
9. Roman has been taking off his diaper and peeing all over my mother in laws white carpet.
8. We have had the pleasure of sitting in 3 hours worth of beltway traffic on a Friday night.
7. Discovered that $4 for milk is a steal and hamburger is on sale for $3.99 a pound.
6. I got a kidney infection. And having pelvic pain flair ups. I must have been a witch in my past life.
5. The weather has gone from beautiful 80 degree sunshine to effin snow.
4. No one carries Diet A&W.
3. Roman is repeating everything I say. Including calling his dad a Pain in the ASS.
2. The cable and internet went out for 5 hours Thursday night. Just in time for AI results.
2.a. At least my mother-in-law and hubs couldn't fight about what to watch.
1. I almost decided to move back here when I ate at the real, old school original Japanese Steak House named Sakura that prevails big time compared to Tempanyaki in Utah. I was tempted.

We head to the beach this week. No pics until we get home though. Forgot my camera cord and I am way to cheap to go buy another just so I can blog.

Post Script. My little sister is coming to stay with us for a while. That means the Palmers are overtaking the Potter household. This makes me smile inside, and a little nervous. And scared. Yes neighbors. One more car in our driveway.

Do you have an old picture that you look and think, that's what I really look like. This chubby body is just temporary. Yeah- well this is "that" picture for me. I looked like this during high school and my early 20's. Before fertility drugs, emotional eating, stress and a pregnancy made me a little more rounded. On my birthday a month ago I made a deal with myself that I was going to be healthy, physically and mentally, by the time I turn 30 next year. Anyways- kinda a dumb post but I found this picture today while cleaning and was just talking to my mom about it last week, how I wanted to find it. I think finding it today was a sign that I need to get with the program.

I have been major lame this month with blogging but I have been trying to enjoy this nice weather, (who knew 50's is NICE, gotta love spring). Roman and I have gone to the park almost everyday and have had some other fun adventures. We leave on Friday for almost 3 weeks to DC. So I will keep up with my blog and all the fun things we have done. Now I must finish cleaning and then headed to the Zoo with my son and Dad (this is what grandpa wanted to do on his birthday) :) ( I love my parents.) to enjoy this glorious 60 degree weather. HAPPY SPRING!

Disclaimer- before I can start this post- I must do a commentary about the critter, creepy, bast$rd, varmint I have had for a few months. I have been begging, I mean begging my husband to take care of this varmint, I have a fear of any type of varmint, rodent, creepy crawler. I think its a medical condition because I go in to violent spasms and freak the freak out when we talk about them. So anyways, we have had one. A vole/rat/mouse whatever you want to call it. I have questioned Chuck's manhood and threatened him on daily occasions about what would happen if this varmint was not taken care of, to no avail, I think I must be loosing my touch- he is not scared of my anymore. So anyways- I am complaining to my friends hubs at church on Sunday about this varmint, and low and behold- my Primary President was standing there and says, "Hey! My son Kevin killed a big huge rat at your house yesterday!!!". I said WHAT??? He did? She said yeah I think so. So I hunted this little stud muffin down and asked him- Did you kill my critter? At first he thought that I was upset- he looked worried and replied- Yeah.

I honestly hugged him, I think he might have been freaked out a little. But I had such a swell of positively the best weight of the world lifted off my shoulders. I think I lost 14 lbs from the sigh of relief. Anyways- short story now turned in to long story- He is my new Hero. I am so baking him some Snicker doodles. ( I asked him his favorite cookie.)

He said the rat was ginormous- I believe him, I got a glimpse of something the size of a kitty by my recycling bin when I was pulling out of the garage. He apparently beat it to death with a shovel and not even a small part of me feels remotely bad about it? I think I might be loosing it. Eww. Rat. In. My. Yard. The Primary Teacher said they have had issues with varmints from the creek. If you see a for sale sign on my house- you know why. Ok- Ok- I am done with that. On to better things...

For my birthday- I went out with a bunch of friends to a place called Cedars of Lebanon in downtown SLC. Food was great. Belly Dancing was fun. Great friends. Just a special night.

Me and the girls belly dancing. Or attempting to. My favorite party is putting your hand over the top of your mouth and doing a little yodel. Reminds me of my Great Grandpa for some reason. I recommend hitting this place up for a good time sometime. One of my favorite parts was watching my friend try to figure out why these two girls were sucking down on the Hookah. Fun times.

Saturday I took my birthday money from my MIL and went to Real Deals. Its this great little boutiquey home decor store that has amazing prices. They are only open on Thursday and Saturdays. I really got some great, cute stuff.

Chuck's presents for me was some new valances for our kitchen/living room. They are still in the bag and waiting patiently to be put up. But I will take pics one day when I am bored and have nothing left on my Tivo to watch. In fact- that might be the day they get put up.

Saturday evening we went to the Japanese Steakhouse- A Jessica Palmer original birthday dinner. I have went here for my birthday since the first year we lived in DC. So like 8 years. IT was delish- Here is our Chef. I would put the pic on there of us eating there with my friends and family- but the way the light is hitting my chin makes it look like I have 8 chins and I refuse to post that on the Internet.

Maybe I should though- for some motivation to get with the healthy eating program. It seems I have had excuse after excuse with a festivity happening every weekend. I am officially in a rut.

My Dad bought me this yummers cake from Costco for my birthday. I ate half of it. You can't fill a cake with cheesecake mousse and expect anything else right. Note the double chins above.

Roman just wanted to touch the fire- great I might have a pyro on my hands.

A little randomness- Roman found a new hat. A Easter basket I bought on clearance last year at Target. He thinks its a hat- and who am I to burst his bubble.

He does have clothes BTW. I just refuse to dress him because it means more laundry. Kidding. He likes to disrobe!

On a final note- I must admit my husband did prove his manhood by dropping smoking poison bombs down the varmint holes today just in case there is anything left. And he replenished my Dt. Mt. Dew and Dt. Root Beer supply today so I guess he can stick around for a while. If anyone is still reading this I am sorry it turned in to such a long-painful post about pretty much nothingness.

1. This weather sucks. I want warmth. I need sunshine. I have cabin fever. EWww. Come on spring.

2. I am on the downhill slope to 30 and it's coming fast. I turn 29 this week. I have accomplished alot in my 29 years. But I want to accomplish more before I hit 30 next year. I want to be healthy- physically, psychologically, emotionally, spiritually.

3. Oprah yesterday. It seriously inspired me to heal myself in all kinds of ways.

4. My new shelving systems in my very bottom basement/storage room. They make me happy. Working on getting organized this week since Chuck is off work this week since he had to burn some vaca days. Its going good, except..

5. I got in to trouble at the doctors office today- for not taking it easy. It has caused me to regress some. My dang pelvis was out 2 inches. So now I am on rest requirements. 30 mins up max, then 30 mins resting. Not to exciting when you have a 3 page long honey do list you are trying to inforce!

6. My friend Shelley got engaged. I am so excited for her! I get to help with her wedding. Very excited about this. I love to be creative.

7. I am going to a Bachelorette Party next week! Yes! So excited. Going to Park City for a sleepover and all sorts of fun stuff. I might be the only married, mother there. So things could get exciting! haha!

8. I am giving 50ish pairs of shoes to the DI this week. I wish I knew another big footed gal out there that wore a size 11. dang orthopedic inserts. I'm such an old hag.

9. Facebook. I have caught up with some friends from way back this week and its so great. I might be slightly obsessed.

10. Swedish Fish. My little brother just brought a bulk bag from Costco to my house tonight and I can't stop eating them. They are nasty and gross and not on my diet. Intervention please.

11. I have been making Roman clean up his little messes he makes the last few days. Its so cute, part of my thinks it looks like child labor. Isn't his little grin priceless.

12. I got these awesome decorations for the shower I hosted this week at Hobby Lobby. Seriously. I love that store so much it hurts and I want to buy everything inside.

13. This cake I made for the party. Speaking of loving things til it hurts. I can't even express how bad of a dieter I am.

14. Like the awesome Parents that we are.. we FINALLY put together Roman's big Christmas present last week. This cute car.. He is obsessed. He sits in it all day. He reads in it, he eats in it, he drinks in it, he even goes potty in it, well in his diaper of course. He watches his Cartoons in it. He just plain loves it. I love it for that reason.

15. As you can also see. He has finally started to smile for the camera. He smiles so hard in fact that it looks painful. Its so sweet though. And he giggles. Gone our the stoic pictures of the past (for a while anyways) and now we are on to half closed eyes goofy pics. LOVE IT!

We made a Quick Trip to Idaho this weekend.

My little sister is graduating from hair school so we had to have a party.

Because if you know me or my family. You know we look for any excuse to party.

I put myself in charge of decorating. Because that't what I always get put in charge of.

And because I wanted these really cute heart tableclothes from Target and so I told my dad we had to have them for Megan's Party. And we used them and now they are ALL MINE!

This is my sister. I also enlisted my father to buy her this pink Boa to wear at the party. Why? Because is there anything better than a Boa, that's pink?

Proof of my insanely large family. We reserved the room for 30. And 52 showed up.

My sister made a haul presents wise. I might try to accomplish something just so I can have a party. Well- I guess my birthday is coming up soon. Maybe I will throw myself a party since its my last year before 30. Sickening I know.

1. American Idol starts next week- Why I am excited.. I will never know- it seems each season is the same but I can't help myself but be a little giddy for some AI!

2. Why do little boys insist on blending the Play-Do color? Is this a little boy thing? When I was little and played with Play-Do I was very particular about mixing the colors and I tried to show Roman how we don't mix them, but he is does his own thing.

3. "The City" on MTV.. This is a spin off of "The Hills".. and I was not sure how I would like it.. But I reaaallly do!

4. The Snow- it's still snowing!

5. My house is still messy from the Holidays.. I did get my junk drawer cleaned a few days ago though!

6. MAC Eyeshadow.. specifically "Trax". Yummers.

7. My Sugar Detox.. I started January 1st and I am going until my birthday.. Jan 31st. I would'nt approach me with any favors until Feburary.

8. Obama isn't allowing ear marks in his new stimulus plan. Thats my BOY!

9. John Travolta's son.. How sad. My heart goes out to them. So painful.

10. My hubs suprised me with a massage today.. This is why we are married. He knows the way to my heart. He also suprised me with a mani and pedi last week.. A small part of me is waiting to see what exactly he is sugaring me up for.

11. Speaking of Sugar Detox. I have found the bestest little treat at night. AW Diet Rootbeer. It honestly is so delish and sweet and yummy and I have to have a glass everynight when my sweet tooth kicks in. I might even get some sugar free ice cream and have a float. Yummers!

Grandpa has Roman so Mama gets to blog.

1. Kosher/ Sea Salt- I have been out for about a week and my cooking is just missing that extra pizazz. I am not really sure what it does. But I know its good. Thank goodness I got some today!

2. The Iraqi man who threw shoes and President Bush. I am not sure if this makes me want to laugh or cry. But it is interesting. My mom said she listened to a radio show about it and they said that it is one of the highest signs of disrespect you can show in Iraq. And I thought flipping the bird at him when he comes on the TV was bad..

3. My Dinner Swap. I know I know.. I talk about it alot. But each week I become more and more a believer. If everyone would just listen to me.

4. "Nude Models Strip to protest low pay." Wait- when you protest I thought you stop doing your job. But isn't stripping just doing your job? Such a double edged sword.

5. Roman begging us to chase him down the hall. He screams. "YIKES!". Where did he learn this? I am pretty sure I have never said the word "yikes." It's pretty funny though.

6. The city of Kaysville's new snow removal policy. LAME.

7. Twilight Movie- I know I know you are sick of hearing me talk about it. But seriously. I just want to go again. Like 18 times. Hey- I have only been three times.

8. Gas Prices! Seriously- they are totally the best.

9. Terrible Two's! Need I say more?

10. Spiral Baked Ham- I forget each year how delish this stuff is until I have it around Christmas. All I want for Christmas is 17 Spiral Sliced Ham's for my deep freezer.

11. Mervyn's closing. Dang- I will miss that store. I went in there today to check out the 60%-80% sale. I think they jacked their prices up so much that we are actually paying full price- but I am a bargin lover.

This handsome devil turned 2 on Thursday.

I swear each picture I take of him I get more and more biased on how delicious he is.

I made Roman a smiley face waffle for breakfast when he woke up.

He liked it.

Party TIME! We had a Diego theme.

Here is THE Diego Cake. I used "THE" like so because I nearly had to freak the flip out on bakery I ordered it from. The cake decorator forgot to decorate it before she went home. So when I showed up it was just a brown blob of frosting. The Store manager asked me what he could do to make up for it- and I said.. "How about call the cake decorator and make her come in, this cake set the theme for my whole party.!!" Well he tried to decorate it himself as you can probably tell by the beautiful border and writing.. LOL! All I cared about was that damn Diego was on there!!

This picture pretty met sets the tune for the entire party. Roman didn't get his nap so he was one cranky camper.

He actually fell asleep during his own party on his Daddy.

Good thing Grandpa got home in time to wake him up to open his presents. We only made it through one and then I let Roman's little friends have at it and open them up!

Notice the house full of people? This was supposed to be a major cut down compared to last years- where people could barely breathe. What can I say- I like to party!

Have I ever mentioned that I am a complete Christmas FREAK. I love Christmas and everything about it. The music, the happiness, the beautiful decorations, the holiday cheer, the shopping and mostly the celebration of Christ's birthday.

Tonight with the help of my friend Danielle (she owed me a favor) I got a small part of my Christmas decorations up. My little brother is headed down tomorrow to put up our outside light and I am going to spend the next week getting the rest of my decorations up! Busy Busy!

Anyways- Below is my porcelain Nativity Scene. I love this so much. It has the perfect Joseph and Mary and the perfect little baby Jesus.

I had some major handy girls helping me decorate the tree this year. I watched my friends little girls and they had a major blast! Hua kept her little booty on that ladder all night hanging ornaments. It was very serious business- as you can tell by her face.

Anyways. As a favor I did their family pics. I am still feeling like major crap and pretty much had to sit down on a chair and rest, then put my pelvis in and then complain through out the entire shoot. But what are friends for right- they love you when you are completely unprofessional. Anyways- the pictures turned out wonderful! :) Life is rough when you wake up on Halloween..

And this monstrosity is in your driveway..

We hosted a neighbor hood Halloween Party for the kids in our yard and it was such a blast. Of course I had to take a picture of my "Decorate-a-Halloween-themed-Sugarcookie" spread. I think I ate 47 sugar cookies.

And so did my son- well he licked the frosting off of 47 sugar cookies.. (notice he only has the bottom on to his costume.- he hates his costume- I on the other hand.. love it!)

The neighborhood kid's enjoying my domestic-ness.. Did I mention my frosting is home made and ohh so fluffly and delicious?

I just had to add this picture of my friends little girl Lehua- because she makes my heart melt. She is 2 weeks older than Roman and I wish they would give her to me...

I am happy to say the bounce house only caused 14 mild injuries.

Walk to Remember 2008

Today we went and did the Walk to Remember for my Utah Share group. It is a gathering that included a brief memorial service, musical number, walk, and balloon release for families who have suffered a loss of a baby. This walk means so much to us as it is the one thing a year we get to do for Brittan. At the end of the program they do a balloon release and say each babies name- when your babies name is called you let go of your balloon. I can not tell you how touching, tender and monumental it is to see a balloon for each of these babies flying high in the sky. We do this walk not only for my son Brittan but for my cousin Sandy's little Jett William Whitaker. This year there were a couple hundred people there. This walk helps many families cope and feel that their little baby will never be forgotten. Brittan Charles Potter was born May 25th, 2006.

Because last week I might have been the teensiest bit annoyed of Davis County on Trippin on Tuesday- and because as much as I love politics- it gets pretty redundant when it comes to blogging- today I am doing a post about some things I do love about living in Davis County- and more specifically my neighborhood.

Things I love about the my neighborhood:

1. My neighbors boys the Rawson's. I am pretty sure that there is no where else in the world where I could come outside and feel like such a celebrity. The boy's love to see me, tell me all about their adventures and just remind me why I love little kids sometimes. Yesterday Ty proceeded to tell me about how he fell off the monkey bars and broke his arm for the probably 18Th time. Michael was super interested in my plans and just dang happy to see me.

2. I am pretty sure at any given moment I could ask to borrow 50lbs of wheat and no one would bat an eye about it.

3. My friends here still love me even though I am addicted to Diet Mt. Dew and I am a democrat. Does it get any worse?

4. It doesn't smell like manure or horse crap all the time like Idaho does.

5. I visibly do not see any sage brush.

6. I can go shopping about anywhere I want in a short drive.

7. When I am sick or in constant pain- I never seem to get a lack of out pouring of those wanting to help. Did I mention my friend Kristy even cleaned my toilets and Jessica cleaned my fridge while I was in SUPER rough shape. Poor girls- I definitely owe them!

8. Dinner Swap- I am pretty sure I do not need to elaborate. Kristy, Valerie and Sarah are my new favorite people!

9. Did I mention there are some pretty amazing cooks in this neighborhood?

10. People share their produce with me- I am not sure if it is because my garden (specifically my tomatoes) turned out pretty lame this year- but I am definitely not complaining about that one.

Okay- so I get that most of my blog readers don't want to get involved in politics. I was raised different though- I was taught you share your views, always listen to others and make an educated decision. Seeing that the election is a mere 29 days away- and I want my friends, family and blog stalkers to be aware of something..

This weekend Sarah Palin was quoted as saying the following concerning Barack Obama-
(according to Associated Press)

1. "Our opponent ... is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect, imperfect enough, that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country." — Palin, to donors Saturday at a private airport in Englewood, Colo.

2. "This is someone who sees America as 'imperfect enough' to work with a former domestic terrorist who targeted his own country." — Palin, at a rally Monday in Clearwater, Fla.

3. “Turns out one of his earliest supporters is a man, who according to the New York Times, was a domestic terrorist,” Palin told about 10,000 supporters at a rally at the Home Depot Center.

Of course we know she is talking about Bill Ayers- who in the 1960's lead the radical group Weather Underground, who were staunch opponents of the Vietnam War. Ayers is now a professor at the University of Illionios. (Ayers was never charged with crimes not did he serve any time in prison or jail.)

So here are some facts about Obama's relationship with Ayers.

1. Obama's Chicago home is in the same neighborhood where Ayers and Dohrn live.

2. Ayers and his wife's home was used by Sen. Alice Palmer to host a "Meet and Greet" to show Sen. Palmer's support for Obama as she was naming him her successor for State Senator when she decided to run for Congress. (Growing up in a political family I can not tell you HOW many "Meet and Greet's" I have attended for my grandfather, former Senator Lin Whitworth. A "Meet in Greet" is normally hosted by another politician in different neighbors in the running candidates jurisdictions so people can come over in a casual setting and meet the candidate.) The fact is- Sen. Alice Palmer hosted this event and used the Ayers home- this does not sound like Mr. Ayers was launching his career.

3. Ayers and Obama worked with the non-profit Chicago Annenberg Challenge on a huge school improvement project. The Annenberg Challenge was for cities to compete for $50 million grants to improve public education. Ayers fought to bring the grant to Chicago, and Obama was recruited onto the board.

4. Both were board members on the Woods Fund, a charitable foundation that gave money to various causes, including the Trinity United Church that Obama attended and Northwestern University Law Schools' Children and Family Justice Center.

I don't know about you- but I am more concerned about the state of the economy- than I am about Palin blasting Obama by twisting words and telling a few more lies. As of the time of this post the Dow has plummeted 700 points due to fears about the American economy. This is what I want to hear the candidates talk about.

1. Lame people who need to get a life, get off their high horse and mind their business. Aww the pleasures of living in Davis County.

2. Desperate Housewives is back on- I liked it, Gaby needs her hair done in a major way though.

3. This picture of my gorgeous son I had the pleasure of taking.. deliciousness..

4. My baby brother Timmy came home from his mission for medical reasons on Saturday. I am so happy to have him home safe. I love him so much. Roman didn't forget him either- he said "TIMMY!!" when he seen him and gave him a love and patted him on the back.. Have I mentioned I love my baby brother??

5. I visited with my grandpa yesterday and he told me he wanted to give me something- He said he read this quote the other day and he wants all of his daughters and granddaughters to abide by this.. "Live your life in the way that when your feet hit the floor in the morning Satan says, SH*T shes awake." LUCKY!

6. Buttons my childhood horse is missing. You know the one Roman gets to ride when we go home to Idaho- all the cute pics.. ringing a bell? I think someone stole her. The poor ol gal is 35 years old and someone takes her?? She was quite possibly the best horse ever and she has been in my family her whole life. My cousins and I spent all of our summers riding her and she is such a part of my childhood. BRING BACK BUTTONS!

7. Speaking of baby brothers...

It's Spencer's birthday today.. Happy Birthday Handsome Baby Brother of mine. I love you!

8. The VP debate is Thursday- Oh goody- now me and my friend Kristy E. will have something more to talk about besides our dinner swap.. (The dinner swap is working out well so far!)

9. My new hair cut! I am now the proud owner of an A-line/bob/short hair. Have I mentioned I love having a sister who does hair? Here is a pic below- I look so miserable- probably because I was in this picture- damn pelvic pain is really getting on my nerves..

Dinner Swap Anyone?

Oak Hollow Ward Girls-

Kristy Egan and I are putting together a Dinner Swap Group.

I am sure most of you know what this is, but for those who do not- I will explain how its going to work.

Each meal will consist of 1 main course and a couple of sides.

Groups will consist of 3 to 5 families (depending on how many sign up- if more than 5 we will make separate groups).

Each family will cook 1 night a week- this day will be specified at a monthly get together where we will make the schedule. The night your family cooks you deliver the food to your other group members homes.

The remaining 3 or 4 nights (depending on your group size) of the week you will sit back, relax and wait for your dinner to be delivered.

Obviously the point of this is to have 1 day a week where you cook and the rest of the week you get fresh home cooked delivered meals. Its also a bonus to your grocery bill because you can buy in bulk. Also a very fun way to learn new recipes and taste other peoples foods.

In honor of my 100th post..

I have some good news.

I went to the physical therapist last night and she was able to figure out some interesting information- I have Myofascial Abdominal Pain with severe trigger points and SI Joint Disfunction. My pelvis is out of alignment 3 separate ways.. the left side was 3 inches higher than the right.. both of my SI joints are out and my pubic bone is completely unaligned. She was surprised I was even able to walk enough to get in to see her! All of this unalignment has caused some severe trigger points with in my abdomen. The worse of which is on my left hip(which is where my pain attacks have started). Apparently these trigger points will flare and cause inflammation of the abdominal wall which in turn causes contraction like muscle spasms that make your abdominal muscles feel like they are being wringed. She said that as women- and all of her patients have done this- the first thing we do when we feel this pain is automatically think it must be my uterus. It was amazing that she could tell me what my pain felt like before I even explained it to her. IT felt wonderful to get some long awaited answers.
She told me that the last patient she had that had my same condition had been to 30 different doctors and had a full hysterectomy before she got to her. Thank heavens we haven't resorted to that!

Some of the best news is that she is actually friends and colleagues with Dr. Howard Sharpe- the pelvic pain specialist I am waiting to get in to on October 29th. She exclusively handles his patients. She said he most likely would have done an exam on me and felt that trigger point on my hip and sent me straight to her for a month before he would see me again. So we are a month ahead of the game. I am so blessed to have received the referral to go and see her just by chance that my cousin Sandy and her husband Tim- who will soon be a PT, know her well and she is a family friend of theirs. I didn't fully understand what her speciality is until I got there and seen that she travels the country to speak on Women's Pelvic Pain studies. I am sure that Heavenly Father had a hand in all of this. It's like it all just fell in to place- I am sure after the pleading of many prayers.

She was also able to explain to me why it feels like my uterus is going to fall out- have I mentioned my regular doctor laughed at me about that? Well because of all the unalingment and twisting of my bones and in turn my muscles.. my pelvic floor is completely unsupported and messed up.

So my next step is to go to her for the next 6 weeks.. and try to get somewhat re-aligned until I get to see the pelvic pain specialist. She is sure that we will not be able to move forward with resolving my pain until I see him- as he will have to inject all of my trigger points with deadening medication so that my muscles will relax enough to really fix me. So yes- I will be having to take it completely easy for the next 6 weeks and I am afraid to say that I will be getting pain attacks still, and they might be even more frequent as we mess around with these trigger points.. but at least its somewhat a light at the end of the tunnel. Please let me know if you would like to get a business card for this PT. Her name is Cheryl Farnsworth and she really has brought so much needed knowledge to my situation. Lets just pray that this is the problem. I am feeling pretty upbeat today.. :)

Wow- this feels so good- to blog- to type to do something besides lay with my feet propped and feel sorry for myself.. okay so for this installment of Trippin on Tuesday..

1. 24- Whoa daddy. Who knew how amazing this show is. I have been hooked all day so hence the reason this post is so late- I am addicted. Its so good. My child did not get of his jammies today- matter of fact neither did I. Thanks to the many friends who recommended.
2. How something so incredibly naughty can be so incredibly cute. I told him not to touch the lotion bottle- and then continued reading my 80th book this week and glanced down when I smelled lotion. No only was he rubbing it on himself but also in to my new carpet. Such a good boy. Ugh. He was proud though and it was really hard to put him in time out. But I did it.
3. Roman had his 15th hair cut. Need I say more?

4. My husband turned 37 this week. That's almost 40. My parents are in their 40's. Luckily I am still in my 20's. Phew.. We celebrated with cake and ice cream with the neighbor girls. I think their was more kiddy slobber on the cake then there was frosting but they had fun and that's all that matters.. right??

5. How do things like this happen? What type of mother takes a picture of her toddler slurping her pop until his eyes water? I do- because I am a terrible mother- and those eyelashes just pull me in- and I let him get away with murder- but those lashes...

6. My baby colors- since we have been stuck in the house lately Roman and I have been coloring so much. He says "CAWOW"- its the cutest thing, And is starting to say his colors. He has really started to talk so much in the last 2 weeks and just repeats about any word. Scary right! I love so much that he is starting to communicate with us and he has the funniest little personality.

7. Senator Edwards and his love affair- yes he cheated on his wife- what a bastard! I loved that man and he was my first overall pick for President. Ugh- I hate it when politicians let us down. Such a bummer. And his wife has untreatable cancer.. I mean could it get worse? Not to mention the lady he cheated with sounds like a total bimbo- good thing I get US Weekly so I could get the real story- right?

8. The Olympics- I have been glued to them at night- from the beach volleyball to the gymnastics to of course the swimming! This is really my first year that I have had the time to sit and watch- Not to mention my pain keeps me up until the wee hours of the morning- Nothing like a radical game of badminton at 3am. Did you know that is an Olympic sport? And so is trampoline flips and stuff. Pretty much the best late night TV ever.

10. This website-- seriouslysoblessed.blogspot.com A totally parody of mormonville life but so hilarious. Honestly I read it for like an hour last night.

11. Breaking Dawn- I really liked it- I had MANY friends who are Twilight lovers who hated it- there is even a petition online you can sign if you didn't like how she wrote it-(do people honestly have that much time on their hands- I mean I do but still). Its funny how peoples tastes and likes differ so much. Can't wait to hear what you girls thought.

12. China- Seriously- who doesn't let a little girl sing her sweet little voice for the world because she has buck teeth. Read this story.

Recovering from Surgery- mostly sleeping.. waking up to eat and going back to sleep. Very much in pain and very sore.

Bad news- Surgeon found nothing wrong. Everything "looks" good in there. So now next step is with the Pelvic Pain Specialist at the University of Utah. Appointment is October 29th. I seriously doubt I can make it that long- but we shall see. In two weeks- after I heal from my surgery- I meet with my 2 doctors again to see if there is anything else we can try before I go to the U.

Thanks to all my friends and neighbors and family for checking up on me- Chuck said we have received a lot of calls. I am back in my own fortress of a bedroom in bed oblivious to the outside world and 100% drugged up 100% of the time. Im becoming a hermit. Okay- this blog took every ounce of energy I had. So no spell checking... Going back to sleep.. au revoir.. ciao...

Just finished Breaking Dawn.. I really liked it. So creative.. so capturing. I hope everyone who wants to gets to read it soon.

I go to the doctor tomorrow at 2. They had called and said they could fit me in today instead but called back and cannot. Yes- I cried a little about it. I am just sooooooo frustrated and in pain right now. I am trying to stay positive- but I am not so well at it right now.

My friends just texted me and told me they were coming to visit tomorrow with their newborn though so that has brightened my day more than they could know. Its the little boost I needed to get me through the day.

Anyways- I will update when I know more. As for now- I am pretty much on full bedrest and just sit around all day so call and visit with me or come see me please people! I am going crazy!!
I swear if it were not for my friend Kristy E. and all my other neighbors/friends I would have gone completey nuts by now. Thanks Kristy for all your help!

Just got back from the Oncologist. Can I say he is the biggest JERK, A-HOLE, !**@*@ EVER!
(that is a whole other story and someday when you want to listen to this girl CUSS up a storm ask me about him and his lovely bed side manners and professionalism. Definitely writing a letter.)

Good news- the grown is gone.. not there.. the MRI shows nothing- even though the CT scan shows a growth- but the MRI trumps the CT- so good news I suppose.

Bad news- I now have to go to a Pelvic Pain Specialist at the U of U.

Even more terrible news- the specialist is doing a HUGE favor for the oncologist- by getting me in on October 29th. So what am I supposed to do now? Sit in wretched pain every day until then? I don't think so.
So I called my regular OB/GYN for an appointment for some help with which way to go.. what to do... a light at the end of the pain tunnel. I just want some answers! This is not normal. I can't even function half the time like a normal adult- or handle holding my baby for very long... or just plain sit up for long.. Sorry having a vent session here. And if this blog sounds funky- its because I'm totally drugged up right now! And so now I waiting for a call back from my doctor at McKay Dee for some much needed advice and assurance. Will update when I know more.

On a side note- THANKS to all of my lovely friends and neighbors and family who have been spoiling us with dinner-treats-babysitting-flowers and well wishing.. its seriously means so much to know you are loved.

Just returned from Oncologist at The Huntsman Institute- He wants an MRI done in order to know what we are dealing with before he does surgery. Going on Friday to get MRI at LDS Hospital and have follow up with Oncologist on Tuesday for results. The pain has been very intense today. Will keep everyone posted. Thanks so much for all of your kind thoughts and prayers.

Health Problems..

Decided to let you all hear it straight from the horses mouth..

Went in to LDS Emergency Room on Friday with intense pain. After much testing they found a mass/growth/tumor (whatever you want to call it) about the size of a fist behind my uterus. I go to the Oncologist at The Huntsman Cancer Institute tomorrow to make a game plan. The pain is pretty intense but I am being spoiled and taken very good care of by my lovely family and friends. Plus they have me on some MAJOR pain pills- so quite loopy.. I will post an update as soon as I have one.

1. Stimulus my A$$! Ours finally came but is only $900 instead of $1500- because we got an adoption credit. Come to find out my farmer mother and step dad don’t get one.. and neither does my student little sister. Bummer.

2. Bukoos- for those of you who have not been to Bukoos- the discount store in Farmington- its about time you go.. We found the coat below for $12 for Roman. Its on sale for $64.99 at the Redskins store online. Same exact coat- both brand new!

3. The cover of The New Yorker. They claim its satire. I claim is tactless.

4. My 10 year class reunion is this weekend. I have been planning it and I will be glad when it is over with! I am very excited to see some old friends and just can not believe what has happened in the last 10 years. It went by so fast.

5. PROJECT RUNWAY SEASON FIVE PREMIRES TOMORROW!

6. I have 2 friends and 1 cousin due in the next two weeks. All with girls.1 is technically over due to today- and the other two aren’t due for another week but are probably going to go at any moment. ALL GIRLS as well. I am excited to have some new baby girls in my life. I might just have to borrower one to get my girl fix!

7. I bought some strawberries last week on sale at Albertsons. I bought them Monday- I took some to work on Wednesday and they were rotten. I left them on the counter to return when I got home Wednesday night and they had turned to strawberry rotten soup. SO MAD!

8. He colored me a picture at church last Sunday- okay so it might not have been directly for me… but none the less he colored something to take home in Nursery- and I cried. I was so proud of him! It was so cute his little scribbles. Its times like this that I LOVE being a mom!

9. We have been super diligent about brushing Roman’s teeth- (he is still on the bottle!) and its rubbing off on him. He loves to carry around his toothbrush and give a few brushes and then continue to play or watch his show. Its so funny! I am slightly worried about the germs he is picking up on packing it around though.. good think I bought the multi-pack!

10. Whenever he is naughty lately he comes up and says: “Sorry!” but says it in a high pitched tone like “SAW-HEE”. He then touches my face softly and says “SOFFF.”. Then kisses me. He knows he can be as naughty as he wants if he gives his mama some loving. He for sure has me wrapped around his naughty butt little finger! I have got to work on the not laughing thing when he is being bad… ah.. maybe next week!
